If you asked Liverpool fans to name one thing they didn’t want to happen during this international break, many of them would have said ‘an injury to Sadio Mane’.

Well, unfortunately for those supporters, exactly that has happened.

Mane, whilst playing for Senegal, was forced to come off after picking up a knock in the 66th-minute during their AFCON qualifier over Namibia.

While we’re unsure of the severity of the injury, it is obviously a major concern for all association with the Merseyside club.

Despite not knowing just how injured Mane is, Liverpool fans are seriously worried and have reacted on social media to the news. Check out the best tweets:

It’s understandable that Kopites are fearing the worst. Mane arrived from Southampton this summer in a £34 million deal and has started life in the north-west impressively.

He scored a magnificent individual goal against Arsenal on his Premier League debut and has looked bright whenever he has worn the red shirt this season.

But it’s not the first time Liverpool fans have been dealt an injury scare where Mane is concerned.

Last month, he picked up a shoulder injury in training with some reports suggesting he had dislocated out. While those reports eventually turned out to be false, it did result in Mane missing the 2-0 defeat to Burnley.

With Jurgen Klopp’s side facing Leicester this weekend before a trip to play Chelsea next Friday, the club will be desperate Mane is fit for both of those matches.

Now though, it’s a nervous wait to discover just how serious Mane’s injury really is.
