When CM Punk signed a contract with UFC, it was met with mixed reviews, with several fighters claiming he didn't deserve to be in the octagon because of his minimal experience.

Punk followed in Brock Lesnar's footsteps by swapping the squared ring of WWE, for the octagon of UFC, and when it was announced that he had signed a contract with the company, some of the active fighters were less than impressed.

None more so than Nate Diaz, who launched a scathing attack on Punk and the whole situation back in 2014.

After the announcement was made, reporters and journalists asked Diaz what he thought about the new addition and what he thought about Punk swapping WWE for UFC.

Diaz said: “I don’t dig it.

"He has got no fights. I know he’s a big draw. I looked him up. Everyone’s going to buy tickets. It’s going to be great for the venue and the UFC, but at the same time, it downgrades all the fighters.”

He then continued discussing Punk and got more and more agitated about the situation.

He added: “He might do great, but why does he get a chance?

"He’s an amateur. You’re going to put an amateur in there with pros? That makes us all amateurs, so I think it’s ridiculous.

"As far as I’m concerned, f*** him, f*** the whole situation. Anybody who takes that fight is tripping.”

Fast forward nearly two years and Punk and Diaz finally met face to face, with the former WWE Champion revealing how that encounter went down.

During UFC 200, Punk and Diaz ran into each other, and the former revealed how he received an apology from the fighter, who recently lost his rematch with Conor McGregor.

Punk revealed in an interview that he was doing an autograph signing at the event, and that is when he got the chance to go face-to-face with Diaz, one of his biggest critics.

However, they didn't end up going at each other verbally, and instead, Diaz offered an apology to Punk.

Punk revealed: "UFC 200 I was doing an autograph signing and the guy I was signing the autograph for started like pointing behind me and I heard someone like yelling my name and I turned around and I was on a riser and Nate Diaz was on the ground and he was like 'hey man come here’.

"I was like 'what's up?' and he was the nicest f****** guy.

"I don't know if he'll get mad and this will ruin the image of Nate Diaz, but he was like 'hey man, I talked some s*** before and I don’t know you and I'm sorry’ and he's like, ‘Gilbert (Melendez) and Ronda (Rousey) said that you're a cool dude and they love you’ and I started looking around for the cameras. I was like all right. I thought that was super, super cool of him. Super nice guy."
