It’s fair to say that the majority of the WWE Universe were either shocked, upset, or both when the company announced that they were parting ways with Cody Rhodes earlier this year.
Although he was destined to become a World Champion at some stage, he never quite hit the heights many expected he would.
It was through no fault of his own, though, as the talent was there and fans will be the first to tell you the company dropped the ball with him on multiple occasions.

The good thing about leaving the WWE nowadays is that the talented stars don’t drift off into obscurity, as most of them go on to achieve incredible things.
We only need to look as far as the likes of Matt Sydal and Johnny Mundo for example, where leaving the WWE looked like the perfect move.
It’s starting to look that way for Rhodes as well. Obviously, he was going to be popular in any promotion, whether that be in the US, UK or over in Japan.
However, at the Battle of Los Angeles show for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, the fans made it clear just how popular Rhodes remains.
THE STAR THAT LEFT THEM IN THE DUST
Competing opposite Sami Callihan, formerly known as Solomon Crowe when he was a part of NXT, his real-life wife and former WWE announcer, Brandi Rhodes introduced him to the fans in a remarkable way.
She referred to him as the ‘grandson of a plumber’, which received a great reaction as you can see in the video. However, calling him ‘the star that left them in the dust’ received an almighty pop from the hyped-up crowd.
If that wasn't enough to get the fans on their feet, Rhodes also brought back an old friend for protection, as he donned his protective mask which we wore for a brief stint in the WWE.
Although significant reactions are expected for him, regardless of wherever he goes, the fact that he had to upload his introduction on his Twitter account following the event just goes to show how much the reaction meant to him.
