Drew Brees apparently has a huge contract demand and Saints fans reacted

Football News

Drew Brees is a New Orleans Saints legend who will go down in the history of the franchise for years to come for what he has done in NOLA.

The quarterback led the Saints to Super Bowl success back in 2010 with a win over the Indianapolis Colts, putting in an MVP performance as he brought the team and their fans the first Lombardi Trophy win in franchise history.

However, that was six years ago and Brees is now a 37-year-old gunslinger with limited years left in his arm. That hasn't stopped him having some pretty ludicrous contract demands, though.

According to a tweet from Jason La Canfora of Fox Sports, the Saints QB is seriously trying to get himself some of that Andrew Luck money.

La Canfora said: "Brees has been seeking a 4yr deal worth $100M I'm told. He doesn't want to negotiate in-season. We'll see if something can get done"

As you can imagine, not all New Orleans Saints fans are particularly pleased with the fact that their already-millionaire ageing quarterback is trying to bleed the franchise dry for what would likely be his final deal.

With the salary cap how it is, Brees would be taking up a ridiculous chunk of it. Saints supporters took to Twitter to have their say:

Drew Brees is still an above-average quarterback in the league, but will he be that in four years time? It's tough to say.

Father Time is still undefeated - just ask Peyton Manning - and to give anyone over the age of 35 a deal that big is a huge risk. We will have to wait and see if the Saints are willing to take that risk or not.
