Tonight's episode of Smackdown saw the semi finals of the tag team tournament to crown new champions on the blue brand.

Smackdown currently doesn't have any tag team champions but they will be crowned at Backlash this Sunday.

Shocking turn

Tonight however saw a highly anticipated semi- final clash between the Usos and former NXT tag team champions American Alpha.

The match was expected to be filled with athleticism, high flying moves and plenty of twists and turns, but what happened was the complete opposite.

As you would have expected, it all started with the four men in the centre of the ring for a sportsman like handshake.

But that was the closest it came to delivering what the fans expected.

It started in an unfamiliar way with the Usos attacking their opponent while their backs were turned and hinting at a possible heel turn.

The match itself would only go on to last about 30 seconds as American Alpha would pick up the surprisingly early win.

That's when things would turn sour for the NXT favourites as the Usos would savagely attack them and work on Chad Gable's leg.

Gable was left screaming in pain after the attack with his fitness now left in doubt over Sunday's final match of the tournament.

The Usos would later appear alongside Renee Young and try to explain their actions tonight and why they have seemingly turned their back on the WWE Universe.
