FIFA have imposed a transfer ban on Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for the following two transfer windows, according to reports.
The two clubs were previously given a transfer ban in January for breaching rules over the transfer of minors - a ban that FIFA provisionally suspended.
The clubs appealed against the bans but fined for their actions - Atletico were fined 900,000 Swiss francs (£816,800) and Real 360,000 (£246,700).
At the time, a Real Madrid statement said: "Fifa's appeals commission has decided to provisionally suspended the sanction imposed on the club.”
While Atleti said: "The Fifa appeals commission has granted us the provisional suspension of the sanction whilst the appeal presented by the club is resolved."
The two Madrid clubs will now be unable to sign any players until January 2018.
Barcelona were given a similar punishment in April 2014 which saw them undergo a transfer ban.
