When Zlatan Ibrahimovic said the one thing he misses about his time at Paris Saint-Germain is his wages, many thought the jovial Swede was joking.
PSG are a ludicrously rich football club and probably paid Ibrahimovic an obscene amount of money over his four year spell at the Parc des Princes. Naturally, he would miss those riches.
But recent developments have found that Ibrahimovic is in actual fact missing his salary.
According to French newspaper Le Figaro - per Goal - PSG have admitted to withholding the final bonus payment they owe Ibrahimovic. The French champions are reportedly waiting for their former striker to provide a document before releasing the instalment.
Regardless of who’s in the wrong - whether it’s PSG who are refusing to pay Ibrahimovic, or whether the 34-year-old needs to make contact with his old team - what’s clear is that money is owed to the Manchester United star.
Swedish newspaper Expressen have revealed just how much he is owed.
According to their report, PSG owe Zlatan 28 million krona, which equates to just under £2.5 million.
The in-form forward is even ready to take the French club to court over the payment, although he would prefer to resolve the matter without the need for a judge.
Ibrahimovic is missing bonuses that were written into his contract for being the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 last season, as well as helping PSG win the title and Coupe de France.
His monthly wage also increased from 7.5 million krona to 14 million krona in the final six months of his stay in the French capital.
If Expressen’s report is true, PSG’s treasurer might be on the hunt for a new job in the near future.
