A huge fan reaction greeted Styles to the arena ahead of the match in an odd twist that almost saw Ambose wrestle as the heel champion.
That wasn't how it finished however as Styles left with the Belt following a very controversial finish to the match.
Following an accidental collision, the referee was taken out of the equation and Style certainly used that to his advantage.
Delivering a low blow to Ambrose before setting him up for the Styles Clash, he stuck to his heel role in order to claim the title.
The fans were clearly elated to see a new champion crowned and after what had proved to be an extensive and gruelling match, Styles came through on top.
The match was the dramatic conclusion to what many fans have considered to be a strong start to Smackdown's solo journey.
Moving forward for the blue brand however, it will certainly be interesting to see just who Styles next challenger is?
The feud with Ambrose could be continued or he could soon find himself locked into a rivalry with a new face - or perhaps an old face that runs the place.
