Piers Morgan names the 5 best players in the Premier League

Water is wet, the sky is blue and Piers Morgan is moaning about Arsenal.

The club’s biggest cheerleader has taken to Twitter for his seemingly weekly rant about all things Arsenal, admitting that none of the current squad would get into the Invincibles side of 2003-04.

According to Morgan, the Gunners will exit the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the seventh straight season and summer signing Lucas Perez is a panic buy. Sometimes, you wonder if he prefers ripping Arsenal rather than supporting them.

Morgan expressed to his 5.15 million Twitter followers about his views on the Premier League’s other players, too.

And it was his response to being asked to name the top 5 players in England that caught the eye.

Given the manner in which he savaged his favourite team and their “delusional” fans, one expected Morgan to not name a single Gooner.

But he did. Check out his answer below.

We’re satisfied with four of Morgan’s picks, but until Paul Pogba does something to justify even half of his £89 million transfer fee, we’re holding off on him for now. At this stage, Kevin De Bruyne probably deserves a mention ahead of the Manchester United midfielder.

Morgan also said Luis Suarez will beat Cristiano Ronaldo to the 2016 Ballon d'Or

Current squad vs The Invincibles

Morgan’s rant began when he responded to Arsene Wenger’s claim that his Arsenal team is better equipped to compete in the Champions League than ever before.

“Utter nonsense,” the 51-year-old called it. “None of this squad would get into the Invincibles.

Robert Pires, Kolo Toure, Gilberto Silva, Ashley Cole and Jens Lehmann once went an entire season unbeaten.

Their places in the team are taken up by Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Santi Cazorla, Nacho Monreal and Petr Cech. Yet Morgan would take the class of ’04 ahead of them.

Alexis criticism

His best comment, however, was about Alexis Sanchez.

“Alexis not at level of Henry or Bergkamp let alone his absurd claim to be as good as Messi/Ronaldo,” he said.

The sad thing for Arsenal fans is knowing that Morgan’s probably right.
