During a Q&A session, WWE veteran John Cena has revealed why he left one of his armbands laying in the middle of the ring following his defeat to AJ Styles at SummerSlam.

The two wrestling icons locked horns at WWE's second biggest pay-per-view of the year, and it was new-boy Styles that came away with the victory.

Despite the two putting on an absolute wrestling classic, it was the actions after the match that has stolen the headlines.

After Styles picked up the 1, 2, 3 and had made his way back up the ramp, all that was left was a helpless Cena sitting alone in the middle of the squared ring.

The same ring that had been his home for over a decade.

However, it was clearly an emotional night and an emotional moment for Cena, who took off one of his armbands, and laid it down onto the mat before departing.

Cena applauded those in the audience and made his way backstage, and hasn't been seen on WWE TV since.

The former WWE Champion is expected to return to TV soon, and is reportedly set to renew his rivalry with Styles over the next month or so, with the title on the line following Styles' win over Dean Ambrose at WWE Backlash.

Despite not being on TV, Cena has taken part in a Q&A session and he was asked about the SummerSlam ending and why he left his armband in the ring.

Cena replied: “That actually has a lot of significance. It was a very important piece of symbolism. Unfortunately, right now it’s just for me, and you’re going to have to wait to find out what it actually means.”
