Arsenal fans react to the performance of David Ospina

When Arsene Wenger decided to leave Petr Cech on the bench in favour of David Ospina, many Arsenal fans were left scratching their heads.

They were probably casting their minds back to last season’s Champions League clash against Olympiakos when he had a nightmare.

And things didn’t look good for the Colombian when he was picking the ball out of his net after just 42 seconds against Paris Saint-Germain.

However, things improved dramatically for the goalkeeper after that.

The 28-year-old was in inspired form as the French side threatened to run away with the match. PSG had chance after chance against the north Londoners, only for Ospina to stop everything that came towards his net.

He really was in incredible form.

Somehow, he kept the scores at 1-0 to just about keep Arsenal in the game. And, despite the dominance from the French club, Wenger’s side grabbed an equaliser through Alexis Sanchez.

While Sanchez will get the headlines for his 78th-minute leveller, there was only one hero as far as Arsenal fans were concerned - Ospina.

So much so that the Arsenal fans, many of whom were probably doubting him before kick-off, took to Twitter to sing the praises of the goalkeeper. Check out the reaction below:

The most unlikeliest of heroes.

After Ospina’s incredible display it begs the question; can Wenger drop him back to the bench for Cech for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Hull?

It certainly would be harsh if he does.
