Mesut Ozil produces shocking miss against Hull City

Mesut Ozil is one of the most technically gifted footballers in the Premier League - but that doesn’t mean he’s incapable of missing the odd sitter.

The Germany international had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 to Arsenal during the first half of their Premier League clash against Hull City this afternoon but somehow missed the target from the edge of the six-yard box.

Alex Iwobi’s initial shot was parried into Ozil’s path, but the World Cup winner sent his shot miles over the crossbar. (Scroll down this page to watch the video).

It shouldn’t prove too costly a miss, however. Alexis Sanchez gave Arsenal the lead in the 17th minute and Hull were reduced to 10 men five minutes before half-time when Jake Livermore was shown a straight red card for a handball. Sanchez, though, missed the subsequent penalty.

With a man advantage, a one-goal advantage, and an overall advantage in terms of the quality of the two sides, the Gunners should hold on and secure all three points from this fixture.
