Alberto Moreno's performance impresses Liverpool fans

Many fans and pundits, including club hero Jamie Carragher, had written off Alberto Moreno's future as a Liverpool player following a disastrous start to the season.

Just one game into the new term, the Spaniard found himself behind the versatile James Milner in the pecking order to be Jurgen Klopp's first choice left-back.

However, he was given a rare run-out during Tuesday night's convincing 3-0 League Cup victory over Derby and hardly put a foot wrong.

With no European football to contend with this term, Klopp will be expecting a good run in the domestic cup competitions, as proven by the strength of his team at Pride Park.

It was a potent combination of first team regulars alongside those with a point to prove and Moreno certainly showed he hasn't given up on winning his place back in Klopp's good books.

Even Derby boss Nigel Pearson admitted there was a vast gulf between the two sides, nevertheless, it was a big step towards redemption for Liverpool's Spanish full-back.

Following the match, as appears to be the norm in the modern day, Moreno took to social media to reflect on the team's performance.

His poor start to the campaign had prompted Liverpool supporters to vent their anger and frustration towards Moreno on Twitter, however, he was met with a far more positive response after making his return to the team.

Of course, there is still a long way to go for Moreno to reclaim his place on a more regular basis but Klopp is a manager renowned for rewarding players who are willing to get their head down and make improvements on their game.

A few more performances like that and Moreno could make all of those early season doubters eat their words.
