Mario Balotelli continues career revival with brace against Monaco

Mario Balotelli marked his Nice debut by scoring twice in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Marseille a couple of weeks ago, only to be dropped for his new team's 1-1 draw away to Montpellier on Sunday.

However, the enigmatic centre-forward was restored to the starting XI for tonight's game against in-form Monaco, who came into the clash as the league leaders, and he didn't disappoint.

Nice took the lead in the 17th minute through Paul Baysse and, as you can see below, Balotelli showed a good turn of pace to double his side's lead just 13 minutes later and register his third league goal of the season in less than two games:

After a brilliant over-the-top through ball from playmaker Younes Belhanda, the 26-year-old Italian powered his way into the box before producing a neat finish across the goalkeeper.

Nice went into the break 2-0 up and things got better for Balotelli in the second half, when he kept his footing and coolly found the back of the net with an accurate first-time strike:

Balotelli excelled in a lone striker role and, whatever you think of him as a person, it's great to see a player with so much ability finally performing well on a consistent basis.
