Chelsea fans blame three defenders for poor Arsenal performance

Chelsea fans were left tearing their hair out after another shocking performance from the Blues against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Before the game, much was made of the Gunners' run of six matches without a goal in this fixture but the home side found the back of the net three times in the first 40 minutes.

And as well as Arsenal played to fully deserve their 3-0 lead, the lacklustre defending of Antonio Conte's side was equally evident.

Conte stuck with the same back four who were blown away by Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool eight days earlier but the result was exactly the same as Arsenal picked holes in the final third with ease.

Gary Cahill was at fault for Alexis Sanchez's opening goal as the Chilean's high press forced an error and broke through to beat Thibaut Courtois one v one.

Unfortunately, that really set the tone for the rest of the game and Cahill wasn't the only one wearing blue to have a bad day at the office.

David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic endured a similarly difficult evening at the Emirates and as a result, Arsenal looked like scoring almost every time they went forward.

They looked so vulnerable at the back that Conte was forced to change the system to a five-man defence early on in the second half but all three of Chelsea's struggling defenders stayed on the pitch for the full 90.

The change of tactics had no effect on the result and Chelsea fans didn't hold back on their criticism of the defensive trio.

It is the same old story for Chelsea. Without John Terry there is a real lack of clear leadership and organisation and the deadline day signing of Luiz is beginning to look like the last minute panic purchase many supporters had feared.
