It’s been a day to remember for Arsenal.

The Gunners are renowned for choking against the bigger teams, but a comfortable victory over Chelsea served to quell such a premise. Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil saw the Blues simply swept aside.

Moreover, the scorer of the third goal was clearly in a philanthropic mood after the game as shown by a great show of class after the final whistle. It’s fair to say Ozil made a young fan’s day with his actions.

Before this weekend, the last time Arsenal defeated Chelsea at home in the league was in December 2010. On that very day, the Gunners had Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie in their side and the Blues were managed by Carlo Ancelotti.

Consequently, upon Arsene Wenger’s men finally ending their Chelsea rut, the players could be forgiven for their mass celebrations. It’s proven a prominent relief to defeat a side that has inflicted such heartache in recent years.

Ozil proved a particular cause for excitement. The German was at his electrifying best against the Blues and found himself on the scoresheet with an inch perfect finish.

The ex-Real Madrid man’s happiness was exemplified by a dressing room seflie he posted on Instagram. In the caption, of course, was his Arsenal slogan: ‘Ya Gunners Ya!’

Young fan

However, Ozil’s antics didn’t stop with his Instagram activity as he gave even more to the fans than his memorising footwork. One supporter in particular was handed the German’s shirt no less and from the man himself.

The amazing footage can be seen below:

It proves a truly inspiring show of class from such a high-profile footballer. The joyous and sobering response of the fan makes the act even more special also.

Furthermore, the actions of the supporters around the young fan should also be noted. After all, given past events such as that involving Jermaine Beckford’s jersey, it’s refreshing to see no random adults wrestling for the memorabilia.

So, while all Arsenal fans will be satisfied with today’s performance, one specific young gooner will be even happier. Take a bow Mr. Ozil.
