James Milner named in 'PL Team of the Season so far' - Twitter reacts

This time one month ago, Liverpool fans were left reeling at Jurgen Klopp's decision to not sign a new left-back following a string of poor performances from Alberto Moreno.

Instead, the German opted to field James Milner in the left full-back role to best utilise his versatility and, of course, to save money.

And what an inspired decision that's proved to be. Five appearances, three goals and one assist later and Milner has fully justified his manager's faith with a number of virtuoso performances.

Hard-working, creative and unafraid to put his body on the line, the Englishman is the left-back Liverpool have long been looking for.

If only they had looked in their midfield ranks for a solution sooner.

It's thanks - in part - to Milner's performances that Klopp's side have won their last three Premier League games in such convincing fashion, dispatching all of Leicester City, Chelsea and Hull City 11-3 on aggregate.

So impressive has the midfielder been that he's actually been named in a Premier League Team of the Season 'so far', as selected by Sky Sports pundits Tony Cottee and Tony Cascarino (see below).

Predictably, Liverpool fans are delighted with Milner's inclusion and feel it's thoroughly deserved.

One Twitter user isn't so convinced by Milner being selected...

Milner is one of many to have thrived under Klopp this season, with Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all coming on leaps and bounds.

And according to Liverpool's vice-captain, they're a completely different side this time around.

Milner said, per the Daily Mail: "We knew that is where we could improve against teams that sit back a bit more but I'm seeing a different team this year, completely different to last year.

"The performance in every game you know it is us that were playing - even Burnley wasn't too bad a performance, it was the final third that let us down.

"Consistency has been really good and you look down the squad list and the quality is unbelievable."

There's an argument to be made that Liverpool are currently the Premier League's most exciting side to watch - after all, they've scored a club record 24 goals in eight games across all competitions thus far.
