We might as well call off the Fluke of the Year competition because Scott Donaldson has already claimed the prize. The 27-year-old produced an extraordinary shot in his Champions League win against Graeme Dott on Thursday.Believe us when we say it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Donaldson's 'voodoo' shot

Donaldson was at the table in the third frame and trying to pot a red with some power so as to develop more balls.

The Scot missed his intended pocket but watched in amazement as the ball popped up in the air, rolled along the rail, came off the rim of the middle pocket, swerved around the blue and fell into the opposite middle bag.

All the referee could do was laugh as Donaldson wondered what on earth had just happened.

Commentator Dave Hendon said it wasn’t a fluke - it was voodoo.

“Sometimes you see it go along the rail and drop into that middle, but to come off the table and go into the opposite middle, that’s virtually voodoo, never mind flukes,” Hendon said.

“That’s black magic, almost.”

Donaldson reacted on Twitter

Meanwhile on Twitter, Donaldson reacted by joking that he meant it.

Former world champion Shaun Murphy wrote: “My nickname of ‘Magician’ under serious threat here.”

Check out some more reaction below.

With luck very much on his side, Donaldson went on to win the match 3-0.

In 2020, the Scot won the non-ranking version of the Champions League when he beat Dott in the final.

Earlier in this year’s event, he lost to Liang Wenbo before bouncing back with a whitewash victory of his compatriot.
