Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has described Tottenham allowing Giovani Lo Celso and record signing Tanguy Ndombele to leave on loan as "terrible" business.

The pair were signed by Mauricio Pochettino for more than £90m in 2019 but made little impact during their two-and-a-half year spells in North London and therefore both moved on in January.

What's the latest news with Lo Celso and Ndombele?

Lo Celso and Ndombele were two of Pochettino's final signings before he was replaced by Jose Mourinho, and while they might have proved unforgettable, it was mainly for all the wrong reasons.

They were meant to come in and fill the void left by Christian Eriksen and take Spurs to the next level, but two-and-a-half years later, they've done anything but.

In their Premier League careers combined, which was made up of 129 appearances, they chipped in with just seven goals and laid on eight assists, 11 of which were from Ndombele and only four from Lo Celso.

As a result, neither were fancied by Antonio Conte, with Ndombele's start against Liverpool the only top-flight game either started since he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo.

Therefore, both players departed on deadline day, with Lo Celso joining Villarreal on loan for the rest of the season, while the Frenchman returned to Lyon.

And Bridge thinks that it's pretty incredible that two of Tottenham's most expensive signings in their history have ended up leaving on loan.

What did Bridge say about Lo Celso and Ndombele?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Spurs did well to get rid of those two but isn't it bad business that Lo Celso and Ndombele, two players they spent £90m on, are leaving on loan deals. I think it's terrible, and it's a real blow."

Do Ndombele or Lo Celso have a future at Tottenham?

Both players have an option to buy in their respective loan deals, although that doesn't mean they won't return to North London next summer.

However, while they could report back in July and start pre-season at Hotspur Way, playing again competitively in a Tottenham shirt is likely to rest on who's the manager. If Conte is still in charge, then there's every chance they'll be loaned out once again or sold permanently.

If he doesn't stick around, then we might not have seen the last of these two for the Lilywhites.
