Canelo Alvarez believes he can beat heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk despite a five stone weight difference.

The Mexican is known as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet and it seems like there's no limit to his ambitions.

The undisputed super-middleweight champion has been heavily linked with a move up to cruiserweight to fight Tony Bellew's former foe, Ilunga Makabu for his WBC title.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking on The MMA Hour said: "He thinks he's completely unbeatable, and he thinks he can beat Usyk.

"I guess he thinks he can beat AJ, that's just his mentality. He's so good, arguably the best fighter I've ever seen up close, but even across the generations.

"I don't want to sound like a fan-boy, but if we can get his signature for a couple of fights, I'd be over the moon."

Hearn has promoted Canelo in the past for three fights which included his bout with British boxer Billy Joe Saunders in May 2021 and he is clearly hoping to promote him again in the near future as he is currently a free agent.

The 31-year-old's last fight was a 11th round knockout win against Caleb Plant at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Nevada last November.

The only loss of his career is still his 2013 defeat against Floyd Mayweather but he has gone from strength to strength since then - beating names such as Amir Khan, Gennady Golovkin and Sergey Kovalev in the meantime.

Some fight fans even feel that if Canelo was in his prime, he would have taken out Mayweather as well.

If he does move up to Cruiserweight and successfully becomes world champion at that weight, talk of a step-up to the glamour heavyweight division will intensify.

A rematch between Joshua and Usyk is expected to take place this year with the winner possibly facing the winner of Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.

There could then be further rematches and other contenders that emerge so a dream fight between Canelo and one of those could take a long time to come to fruition - but that won't stop Boxing fans dreaming of seeing the Mexican take the ultimate test.
