Chris Eubank Jr broke Welsh hearts with victory in his grudge match against Liam Williams.

The 32-year-old nicknamed 'Next Gen' stayed on course for a world title fight in 2022 with a unanimous decision win over his bitter rival in front of a soldout crowd at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

Eubank Jr was loudly booed by Williams' fans on his way to the ring but in the end it was the Brighton boxer who had the last laugh.

All three judges scored the bout 116-109, 116-108 and 117-109 in favour of Eubank.

It was a fight BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom described as a 'stepping stone' to massive potential super-fights in the US.

Eubank has been chasing a bout against IBF middleweight champ Gennady Golovkin for the best part of five years.
