Luis Diaz is the latest exciting attacking player to come through the door at Liverpool.Despite already boasting offensive talent in Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the Reds added to their top-end arsenal with the £37-million acquisition of Diaz in January.Seemingly snatched from under the nose of Tottenham Hotspur, Diaz's move to Anfield is a real statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp as his side looks to close the gap to Manchester City.

Diaz's move to Liverpool

However, before Kopites get too carried away about the Colombian international pulling on the famous red jersey, he's still got to take the time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Besides, you only have to look at the way that Klopp gradually blooded Andrew Robertson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabinho to see that Diaz's rise to the top will be a careful and considered one.

Not only is he still a relatively young man at 25 years old, but he's got to adapt to an entirely new country, language and league, which must be an intimidating life change no matter who you are.

But Liverpool fans can rest assured that the ex-Porto forward will throw himself at the challenge with the best possible attitude, and the process of adjustment has already gotten underway.

We say that because footage has emerged of Diaz getting to know some of the most important figures at the club, which even included a brief meeting with Virgil van Dijk that has gone viral.

In a video released by LFCTV, the Colombian can be seen greeting Van Dijk with a high five and hug before progressing into a separate room to talk to Pepijn Lijnders and Jurgen Klopp.

Diaz's viral reaction to meeting Van Dijk

However, it was Diaz's reaction to meeting Van Dijk that owed to the clip's success on Twitter with the left-winger charmingly and amusingly being taken aback by, well, how massive he was.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Diaz remarked immediately after meeting the Dutch defender: “He is so big.”

And he wasn't finished there, eventually doubling down on his observation by saying: “Van Dijk… yes, so big! But he is fast with his feet. He is a very technical player.”

Diaz was also incredibly gracious about Liverpool's training facilities, adding: “It’s very nice here (AXA Training Centre), it’s a pleasure for me.”

One Liverpool fan described the exchange as being 'cute'.

One Liverpool fan declared that they love Diaz already.

Fans pointed out how happy Diaz looked to be at Liverpool.

Let's face it, we've all met somebody in person for the first time and been taken aback by how much shorter or taller they were compared to the image that we'd built up in our heads beforehand.

Diaz taken aback by Van Dijk's stature

Your humble writer can vouch for that fact having met the man mountain that is Eddie Hearn and there's good reason to think that Diaz found Van Dijk even more physically imposing then he remembered.

However, as Liverpool's new man said himself, height and muscle haven't stopped Van Dijk from also standing head and shoulders above his rivals when it comes to intelligent and technical football.

And who knows, maybe Diaz will get to see that firsthand as Van Dijk's teammate when Liverpool line up against Cardiff City in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend. Stay tuned.
