Over 50 billion streams on Spotify and a world-renowned rapper, in the modern era, one would consider it quite difficult to escape the music of Drake.

Yet former UFC Champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, had no idea who the Canadian was when attending the weigh-in for Khabib’s bout against Conor McGregor.

Drake was draped in an Irish flag, showing his support for McGregor.

Speaking on the Full Send podcast, Khabib revealed: “Honestly, I swear I don’t even [know who Drake was].

“When he was in the corner of Conor [McGregor], people said this guy is very famous. I swear I didn’t know this guy.”

Some may refer to this as strange, with Drake being one of the biggest names in the music game. Other’s may consider this as the humble nature in which Khabib grew up in.

The 33-year-old is a man devoted to family and religion, calling his retirement after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October 2021 after a promise to his mother that the fight would be his last.

It was a decision made by the Russian following the death of his father, coach and mentor Abdulmanap.

Nurmagomedov ended his career in the Octagon with a record of 29-0, with the battle against Irishman McGregor one of the standout memories in most fighting fans’ minds.

Away from the cage, it was a night where all hell broke loose, with Khabib jumping the cage, battling it out against members of McGregor’s team, whilst Mystic Mac was ambushed in the ring by the Russian’s camp.

Some may consider the standout of the night being Drake’s reaction as the scenes unfolded. His face was spotted by fans across the globe, where the 35-year-old was in shock of what was going on.

With the two fighters though, they couldn’t differentiate anymore.

McGregor, a close friend of Drake, confessed to being a huge fan of the cross-genre singer.

It is understood the 33-year-old attended the launch party of Drake’s most recent album Certified Lover Boy, another album released by the singer which surpassed the one billion streams mark.

Whether the Notorious’ counterpart actually had no idea who Drake was, is unconfirmed. However, it may just be that the Eagle may not have wanted to take part in the internet famous ‘Drake curse.’
