Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott make impact for Liverpool

The biggest cheers of the afternoon were reserved for the two substitutes - and neither disappointed.

Here’s Diaz’s assist for Minamino:

Elliott, meanwhile, marked his return with a superb goal with 15 minutes left on the clock.

What a moment for the youngster.

There were fears that Diaz might not be able to make it to full-time after Cardiff defender Flint stood on him.

But fortunately, the South American - getting his first taste of English football - dusted himself down and continued to the final whistle.

If this is an early sign of things to come, then it’s safe to say Liverpool have signed another very talented player.
