It was the Foxes who came out on top of a nail-biting 2-1 scoreline, and they now sit five points clear of the Blues in the drop zone.GiveMeSport Women has picked out one player who stood out from each of the six matches this weekend.

Stina Blackstenius (Arsenal 1-1 Man United)

Arsenal may be frustrated over dropping points, but their goal was certainly one for the archives.

The creation of the goal was beautiful — a pinpoint long ball from Vivianne Miedema to play in new signing Stina Blackstenius.

The Swedish international made a solo run through on goal before slotting the ball past Mary Earps.

It was a poignant moment for both the player and the club. Blackstenius opened her portfolio for the Gunners in emphatic style, on her 26th birthday no less.

Guro Reiten (Chelsea 1-0 Man City)

Chelsea continue to pile the pressure on Arsenal as they close in on the top spot of the WSL table.

The reigning champions will not go out without a fight, and small but important score-lines like this prove the Blues' resilience when it comes to defending their title.

Kingsmeadow erupted as Guro Reiten latched onto a Jess Carter cross to head home the only goal of the game.

It was by no means a show-stopping performance, but it was enough for Chelsea to close the gap on Arsenal and keep this season's trophy in sight.

Grace Moloney (Everton 1-2 Reading)

Reading didn't get off to the start they wanted this season but their recent form has more than made up for it.

The Royals are unbeaten in their last eight WSL fixtures and their strong run of form includes victories over Chelsea and Brighton.

Thanks to goals from Tia Primmer and Natasha Dowie, Reading secured a 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday. However, had it not been for Grace Moloney, the spoils would have been shared on Merseyside.

The Republic of Ireland international denied the Toffees a chance to double their lead by denying an Izzy Christiansen penalty.

Despite being 1-0 down at the break, the Royals found the firepower to come from behind and clinch the win, no doubt buzzing off the back of Moloney's super save.

Jemma Purfield (Birmingham 1-2 Leicester)

This was perhaps the focal point of the weekend — a battle between two sides desperate to keep their WSL status.

Both fought tooth and nail to stay in the match but it was Leicester who dug their claws in that little bit more to come away with a vital three points.

After a Jess Sigsworth penalty broke the deadlock, Jemma Purfield popped up with her side's second goal, which was enough to ensure a late goal from Louise Quinn of Birmingham did not affect the fate of the match.

According to FotMob, no player created more chances on the pitch than Purfield (3). The defender also won six duels, made three interceptions and completed seven out of nine attempted crosses.

Not only was the versatile full-back on form with her defensive duties, but she was one of the most creative players on the pitch.

Ashleigh Neville (Spurs 2-0 Brighton)

Spurs bounced back from their 3-0 loss to Man United last time out with a dominant display over Brighton.

In the 4-0 mauling, Kyah Simon contributed two goals either side of the break to help her side breeze past the Seagulls.

While her performance certainly shaped the match, her teammate Ashleigh Neville also played a huge part in the outcome.

The right-back was substituted on in the 52nd minute and made an immediate impact. Within five minutes of coming off the bench, she had found the back of the net to double Spurs' lead.

After Shelina Zadorky scored the third, Neville teed up Simon for her brace.

Tottenham looked in control prior to Neville's arrival, but the immediate influence she had on the run of play was superb.

Katerina Svitkova (Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham)

The final WSL match of the weekend was a tight one that could've gone in any direction at any given moment. Both sides had the same amount of shots and chances created as well as similar defensive stats.

Heading into the second half, the score was tied at 1-1, but thanks to a goal from Katerina Svitkova, the spoils went West Ham's way.

Not only did the midfielder secure the points for the Irons, but she dominated with her all-around performance.

Svitkova won the most tackles (5) and duels (10) of any other player and also contributed one key pass and five crosses, proving to be a real thorn in the side for Villa in all areas.
