Barcelona versus Atletico Madrid was one of the best games anywhere in Europe so far this season.

The two Spanish giants played out an absolute corker at Camp Nou last Sunday, with the hosts eventually securing victory by a scoreline of 4-2.

Goals from Jordi Alba, Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Dani Alves were enough for the three points, Yannick Carrasco and former Barcelona player Luis Suarez the scorers for Atletico in Catalonia.

The Blaugrana's display overall was arguably the best since Xavi Hernandez took charge and there were a number of standouts.

Probably the best performer on the day was Adama Traore, who was making his second debut for the club after joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

The lightning-quick winger was an absolute menace on the right-hand side of Barcelona's attack and it was his pinpoint cross that was headed past Jan Oblak emphatically by teenage sensation Gavi.

Atletico just had no answer to Traore's pace, strength and skill on the ball, which you will see for yourself in the superb video below containing his individual highlights from the game.

Trying to defend against Traore in full flow looks like a right laugh, doesn't it? The winger deservedly received a great reception from the crowd when he was replaced by fellow debutant Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

When he plays like that, Traore is simply unstoppable and defenders in La Liga will not be looking forward to coming up against him in what remains of the 2021/22 campaign.

After the match, Xavi was full of praise for the Spain international and even labelled him a "beast".

“Adama is a very mature player. He knows when to face up, when to pass and he’s chosen his moments well today," the Barcelona manager said, per Marca.

“Physically he is an animal, a beast. He is a pure winger and he will help us. He is a great signing for the team.

“Adama makes the difference. He has power, strength, he dribbles at opponents and he’s solid in defence.”
