Dani Alves: Barcelona hero showed how much he loves the club in celebration v Atletico

Dani Alves certainly had an eventful game in Barcelona‘s priceless 4-2 victory over Atletico Madrid last Sunday.

The Brazilian full-back assisted Jordi Alba’s stunning volley that levelled the scores at 1-1 and then found the back of the net himself in the second half to make it 4-1.

But shortly after his first goal since returning to the club back in January, the 38-year-old defender was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Yannick Carrasco.

Alves will subsequently miss the Catalan derby against Espanyol on Sunday.

Yeah, he was certainly in the thick of it during Atletico’s trip to Camp Nou and it’s just great to see him back in La Liga action.

Alves is still one of the best in the business and you’ll also be hard pushed to find a player who loves Barcelona more than him – despite the drama surrounding his exit back in 2016.

The former Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain right-back knows exactly what it means to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, as he proved when celebrating his goal.

Alves was joined by a plethora of teammates by the touchline and even in the heat of the moment, he made sure not to step on the team’s crest.

The ageless star tried his best to make sure that no other player did so either, although Ronald Araujo followed in his teammate’s footsteps a little too late…

Well played, Dani.

As soon as Araujo realised what was going on, he quickly made sure to get his boots off the image of the crest emblazoned on the pitch.

Despite picking up a red card against Atletico, Alves’ re-signing has already proven to be a bit of a masterstroke by Xavi and Barcelona.

He’s performed incredibly well for a player approaching 40 and is helping instill the correct mentality in the collection of talented youngsters at the club.

The likes of Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres have no doubt already benefited hugely from Alves’ presence both in the dressing room and out on the pitch.

He really is a true Barcelona legend.
