Mohamed Salah suffered yet more Africa Cup of Nations heartbreak on Sunday night as his beloved Egypt fell at the final hurdle of the continental carnival.

The Liverpool superstar had dragged his side all the way to the showpiece event, through several extra-times, and was only a few errant penalties away from being crowned a champion.

In the end, Salah didn't even get the chance to take his penalty with Senegal polishing the Egyptians off before the fifth taker was even needed.

It would have come as a truly bitter blow for Salah, who has made no secret of his desperation to claim international silverware with his home nation.

Sadly, it wasn't to be for the Egyptian king in 2022, but he still has plenty of time to right those wrongs and there is no one who better knows that fact than the man himself.

Speaking in the aftermath of the brutal final loss, while the Senegalese contingent celebrated only yards away, Salah showed his elite mentality.

Mohamed Salah's rallying cry to teammates

Addressing his devastated teammates, Salah issued a rallying cry, urging them to look forward and seek revenge for the pains of Cameroon.

You can see Salah showing his immense leadership in the brilliant footage below:

In English:

“We played four matches all 120 minutes in about 12 days, but it’s in the past now, we have the games against them next month and inshallah we will take revenge on them.”

Incredible - Salah had just suffered one of the most disappointing nights of his career yet he was already looking forward to what can be done to fix it.

It can't have been easy for Salah to stand up and speak with such conviction, but you can't help but feel that international glory can't be far away.

Mohamed Salah returning to Liverpool training ASAP

There are also reports emerging that Salah has already told Liverpool he will be back in training on Tuesday and is hoping to play a part in the upcoming Leicester City clash.

Jurgen Klopp will certainly be glad to see his talismanic winger back on Merseyside as it's nothing more than an inevitability that he will be back among the goals as soon as possible.
