Manchester City and Manchester United have made advances for West Ham United star Declan Rice 'in the last six months', according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Rice came off the bench to stop the Hammers suffering one of the biggest FA Cup upsets in history when, on Saturday, he fired home a stoppage time leveller against Kidderminster Harriers before Jarrod Bowen saw off the non-leaguers in the final moments of extra-time.

What's the latest news involving Rice?

It appears suitors will have to part with huge sums if they want to prise Rice away from the London Stadium as West Ham boss David Moyes has claimed the midfielder is worth more than £100million.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are understood to be keen on striking a deal to secure Rice's services when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

According to The Telegraph, West Ham are bracing themselves for big-money offers and their chances of keeping the 27-cap England international have suffered a blow thanks to their inability to strengthen Moyes' squad last month.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has agreed to Rice being one of their top summer targets, while it has been suggested Chelsea would need to offload N'Golo Kante to win the race for his signature.

Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy reacted to Rice's vital contribution at Kidderminster by likening him to Steven Gerrard, which is no mean feat considering he enjoyed a trophy-laden career.

What has Dean Jones said about Rice?

Jones understands that Manchester City and Manchester United have been strengthening their interest in recent months and Rice would be open to heading north.

The transfer insider reckons the 23-year-old may even prefer to join the reigning Premier League champions rather than their arch-rivals.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "One that's not really talked about as Manchester City. They really like Declan Rice still and it might be that Manchester City appeals to Declan Rice more than United.

"I know that both of those clubs, in the last six months, have checked out his situation just really to be assured that he's willing to leave London more than anything because, obviously, he's established himself at West Ham after being at Chelsea and he's still being talked about going back to Chelsea.

"I know that there was some concern at United and City over whether it was a waste of time and if he would even consider leaving the capital. He would, I'm told."

What is Rice's current contract situation?

Rice's £62,000-per-week contract still has two-and-a-half years remaining, although it is understood that West Ham have the option of extending the agreement by a further 12 months.

As a result, the east Londoners are in no immediate need to sell the ace who has been described by Moyes as a future England captain.

However, interested parties were put on red alert before the season got underway as it emerged Rice had turned down two offers of a new deal.
