The in-ring return of Alexa Bliss draws nearer.

The WWE star has been receiving therapy sessions to deal with the loss of her doll and demonic sidekick Lilly, who was torn apart by Charlotte Flair at Extreme Rules.

Bliss went on hiatus to undergo legitimate sinus surgery shortly after, perfectly timing what could be the reintroduction of her Goddess persona.

Last month, Bliss appeared on screens for the first time since September. She returned exactly as she had left — dark, supernatural, and harbouring anger over Lilly's demise.

However, as the weeks have gone by and progress has been shown in her counselling sessions, Bliss herself has also changed. The former Raw and SmackDown women's champion appears to be slowly reverting back to her old gimmick, or at least something resembling the iconic Goddess.

Here's a look at Bliss' transformation over the last five episodes of Monday Night Raw.

Alexa Bliss return

In her first meeting with the therapist, there was nothing different about Bliss, except for the absence of Lilly. She sported her trademark dress, space buns and dark makeup.

The star seemed to mock the therapy session at first and played down the suggestion she had a problem to face.

Bliss was then made to rewatch the footage of Lilly from Extreme Rules, which ended in a burst of rage and several items around the doctor's office being broken.

All signs point to Lilly

Aside from a slight change of clothing, Bliss looked the same as the first instalment of her sessions.

In the second episode, the therapist attempts to play a word association game with Bliss, but all of her answers point back to Lilly.

After suggesting the doll is imaginary, the fury in Bliss started to rise again. The doctor promptly called an end to the short session, suggesting the supernatural gimmick was going to stay and Bliss would make her return fuelled on seeking revenge for Lilly.

Starting to change

In the third and fourth instalments of her counselling, Bliss started to slowly drift away from the dark appearance.

Her space buns were replaced by bunches and she appeared wearing an all-black outfit, rather than the purple and pink from previous clips.

The following week, Bliss had swapped out her trademark Converse for a pair of boots and her dungaree dress was replaced with a dark t-shirt and skirt combination. Most notably though, was the change in lipstick.

Bliss' usual black lips were red instead — dialling down the darkness in her makeup and perhaps her persona.

In her most recent appearance, Bliss' makeup was softer still. She also wore a light pink skirt, again further diluting her twisted gimmick from the weeks before.

Even her body language has altered since the first session. Bliss appears to have more of her previous sassy attitude and confidence as she causally lies back in the chair with her legs draped over the side.

Compare this to her previously sitting up straight with her legs crossed, portraying the childlike demeanour that came with Lilly the doll and the playground.

Is The Goddess coming back?

The gradual but drastic change in Bliss' appearance over the last five weeks cannot be ignored.

Not only does the star look different, but her persona seems to have changed as well. Keeping in tone with the therapy sessions, Bliss appears to be handling her anger much better and a breakthrough moment suggests she has lost all affection for Lilly.

This could well be the point where Bliss completely switches up her gimmick.

While many fans have been eager to see the return of The Goddess, Bliss herself appeared to shut down rumours of this with a recent cryptic tweet.

"I like to evolve & always move forwards… never taking steps back," she wrote last month.

While WWE may not be introducing the old Little Miss Bliss, something new definitely appears to be on the cards and a gimmick similar to The Goddess or a hybrid of the two could be ready to reveal itself.

There is no set date for Bliss' in-ring return but it is surely right around the corner based on the progress she has made in recent weeks.
