Manchester United were back in Premier League action against Burnley on Tuesday evening.

The Red Devils thought they had taken the lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

United were given a free-kick roughly 40 yards out. Bruno Fernandes swung a ball in and Raphael Varane headed home.

However, VAR ruled the goal out as Harry Maguire was in an offside position when he blocked off a Burnley player.

United were ahead shortly after, though, with Paul Pogba rifling in an effort from inside the box.

Ralf Rangnick's side then thought they went two goals up when Marcus Rashford's cross was turned in to his own net by Josh Brownhill, but the Burnley man's blushes were spared as a foul was given against Pogba.

United were completely dominant in the opening 45 minutes and were well worth their lead.

However, Burnley restored parity almost immediately after the break.

Maguire was turned inside out by Wout Weghorst, who beat the Englosh defender with a delightful touch.

The striker, who joined Burnley from Wolfsburg in January, then played a through ball to Jay Rodriguez.

Rodriguez found himself one-on-one with David de Gea and he produced a confident finish to make it 1-1.

That is not great from Maguire. He got beaten easily by Weghorst and then couldn't get back to deny Rodriguez.

United applied pressure late on but they couldn't find a winner and thus had to settle for a draw.

The Manchester giants have now dropped down to fifth. They have been overtaken by West Ham, who beat Watford 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

United could find themselves as low as seventh by the end of the week, depending on both Arsenal and Tottenham's results.

Burnley, meanwhile, remain rock bottom of the Premier League with 14 points accrued from their 20 games.
