Lewis Hamilton has been back at Mercedes' Brackley HQ this week to take a look at the progress being made on their new car for the 2022 campaign, with any doubts about his future surely now put to bed.

It's been an interesting week in terms of the speculation over Hamilton with him ending his social media silence on Saturday, sharing a training clip at the start of the week and now visiting his team's base in Brackley to check up on the new car.

Clearly, he has every intention of competing in 2022 and we can surely forget the rumours and speculation over his future that had been dominating the off-season in recent weeks.

Formula 1 is a much better place having Hamilton around given the achievements he has earned over the years and it would have been a shame to see him leave after such a contentious end to a 2021 campaign that had been so thrilling and gripping.

Hopefully, we'll see Lewis and Max Verstappen renew their rivalry as the new campaign kicks off but there also has to be a hope that we're going to see the Ferrari and McLaren teams joining the party, as well as potentially one of the midfield runners that could get the 2022 regulations right.

Certainly, we're in for an exciting year.
