Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie reckons there's a growing belief at Newcastle that the club will avoid relegation this season.

Eddie Howe's side breathed new life into their battle against survival by climbing out of the bottom-three for the first time since October following a 3-1 victory over Everton on Tuesday.

What's the latest news involving Newcastle?

To say that Newcastle are in a good moment would be an understatement. The Toon Army went into January with just one victory from their first 19 Premier League games and while they were only two points from safety, Callum Wilson had just suffered an injury and the squad were low on confidence.

Some six weeks later, the Magpies have enjoyed a productive transfer window, have collected back-to-back league victories for the first time since the final two games of last season, with the 3-1 win against Everton enough to see Howe's men climb out of the relegation-zone.

With Kieran Trippier, whose free-kick secured the points against the Toffees, Matt Targett and Chris Wood are already in the XI, and Dan Burn and Bruno Guimaraes to come into the side, Newcastle appear to be growing in confidence as they look to pull clear of danger.

Furthermore, the sides below them aren't exactly in top form, meaning further victories in the coming weeks could see Howe's side give themselves some much-needed breathing space above the relegation-zone.

With two wins on the bounce backing up their impressive January window, Downie reckons that those in power at the club are confident they will retain their Premier League status this campaign.

What did Downie say about Newcastle?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I get the impression from talking to Eddie and other people at the club, there's a real confidence they can get out of this."

Who are Newcastle's next three fixtures?

The last thing you want after winning two games on the bounce is to be travelling to somewhere like Manchester City or Liverpool, which could kill your momentum.

Fortunately for Newcastle, they'll have every chance of extending their impressive form in the coming weeks, with the fixture list kind to them in February.

On Sunday afternoon, Howe's team host Aston Villa and while they have two away trips to follow, it could be far worse than West Ham, who are faltering under David Moyes of late, and Brentford, who have suffered five Premier League defeats on the bounce.
