Lando Norris has signed a new contract with the McLaren team that will take him through to the end of the 2025 season in Formula 1.

The British driver is one of the most exciting talents in the sport and enjoyed his best campaign to date in 2021.

Indeed, he was arguably the best of the rest behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in terms of his performances across the whole campaign, and helped deliver a 4th place finish to McLaren in the Constructors' standings as they continued their own progression as a team.

Certainly, it's an exciting time to be a McLaren fan with them having cautious optimism over the next few years in the sport as the 2022 campaign looms large, and it seems as though Norris is very much invested in what the team is trying to do.

Indeed, he's now tied down until the end of the 2025 season at least, and by that point he will have wanted to record a first race victory, plus a lot more, and maybe even a title challenge if the cards are dealt his way.

Norris came so close to a maiden victory in 2021 at the Russian Grand Prix, of course, but a late downpour scuppered his chances as he remained on slick tyres, leaving Lewis Hamilton to pick up the pieces in his Mercedes.

“Teams are about people, and I love the people and feel at home at McLaren. I have grown up in this team and I’m part of this journey we’re all on," Norris said.

“Last season was another great step, both in my career and the team’s performance, and I see and feel all the work, investment and commitment for the team to be in a position to challenge for wins and titles in the future. This all gives me huge confidence looking forward, so it was a natural decision to extend our relationship for the next few years.”
