Ronda Rousey: Former UFC star comments on taking negative WWE fan reaction personally

Ronda Rousey has opened up about fans turning on her during her first run with WWE between 2018 and 2019.

Ronda Rousey came into WWE at the beginning of 2018 as a babyface for her feud with Stephanie McMahon, and she remained in that role for the majority of her WWE run.

However, towards the end, fans started to turn on Rousey, and WWE made the call to turn her heel before her WrestleMania 35 main event with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

Since her return at the Royal Rumble last month, reports have indicated that Rousey is “bitter” about how WWE fans treated her during her first run with the company.

This has been evidenced by comments that Rousey has made since her departure from WWE, notably last August when she called fans “ungrateful idiots” following Bray Wyatt’s release.

In a new Facebook stream, Rousey has spoken about her relationship with WWE fans, opening up about how she feels when she is negatively received.

The former UFC star explained that “it’s hard” not to take the negative reaction personally, especially considering she’s playing herself on TV, via Wrestling Observer:

“It’s hard not to take (things) personally from the fans because I don’t go out there as, I mean, I do go out there as a character but I am also actually Ronda Rousey. I don’t play Ronda Rousey on television so sometimes I take it personally from the fans. Not so much from the wrestlers, but the fans, I do,” she said.

Reports have stated that Ronda Rousey actually had to be “spoken to” by people within WWE about her attitude towards fans since her return.

Rousey has been acting like a heel towards WWE fans, so the company had to speak to her about changing that as she’s going to be positioned as a face, which you can read more about by clicking here.
