Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni is a "technically brilliant" defender, according to journalist Conor Clancy.

Bastoni played under current Spurs boss Antonio Conte at Inter Milan, and a reunion between the pair could be on the cards.

What's the latest transfer news involving Bastoni?

Bastoni was signed by Inter in 2017, and, after loan spells at Atalanta and Parma, he has cemented his place in their starting XI in recent seasons.

The 6 foot 3 centre-back won his first league title with the Nerazzurri last year, and Simone Inzaghi's men are well-placed to retain their crown this term.

However, this has not stopped speculation regarding his future, with it being reported that Conte is keen on bringing the 22-year-old to north London.

What has Clancy said about Bastoni?

Clancy rates Bastoni very highly, and feels that the centre-back's performance against Lazio in January, when he scored a goal and registered an assist, demonstrated that he has a well-rounded skillset.

Speaking about the £54m-rated defender to GIVEMESPORT, Clancy said: “He is technically brilliant. We saw in Inter’s game against Lazio last month, he scored a gorgeous goal, like something Luka Modric would do from the edge of the box, and then put in a cross, against like Toni Kroos would do for Skriniar’s winner.”

Will Tottenham be able to sign Bastoni in the summer?

This particular transfer could be a difficult one to pull for Tottenham due to Bastoni's current situation at Inter.

The Italian side are currently on course to win their second successive league championship, suggesting that there is very little reason for Bastoni to turn his back on the club.

He is also contracted to the team until 2024, meaning that there is unlikely to be much pressure on Inter to sell their young centre-back.

However, it must be remembered that they have had financial difficulties in the recent past, which caused them to sell Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi last summer.

With this in mind, it is not out of the question that they look to offload some more key players in the next transfer window to ensure that their finances are in order, and this could open the door for Spurs to make their move for Bastoni.
