Allan Saint-Maximin keeps receipts.

The Newcastle United star went viral after responding to an Everton fan who said he deserved to play in the Championship - one month ago.

That’s right. Saint-Maximin waited a whole month to get revenge.

We love the Frenchman’s pettiness. He was brilliant in Newcastle’s 3-1 win against Everton at St James’ Park, earning an 8.4 rating from WhoScored, and couldn’t wait to dig out the Everton fan’s tweet from January 15.

“Average player deserve to play in the Championship,” it read.

Saint-Maximin quote tweeted it and wrote: “‘Average’ was enough for today tho”, along with the iconic Thierry Henry mouth twitch meme.

9 times players have destroyed fans

It got us thinking about other times in the past that footballers have destroyed fans on social media.

Of course, many players leave a PR agency to run their accounts for them.

But some pick up the phone themselves and even decide to bite back at a comment or two. Mesut Ozil, Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy are just a few players to give it back over the years.

Marcus Rashford

Back in 2020, Man United’s Rashford responded in style to a fan who called him “average at best”.

Mesut Ozil

When a Tottenham fan tried to troll Ozil in 2019 by asking why he was in their team photo - the joke being that the then-Arsenal playmaker ‘always goes missing’ - Ozil absolutely ruined him and Spurs.

Peter Crouch

Crouch has delivered some belters on Twitter and in 2017, he had no time for a fan who joked about his appearance and goalscoring record.

Michy Batshuayi

Ah, take us back to 2016 and Batshuayi going viral every other week on Twitter.

But the tweeting was too much for one fan who said the ex-Chelsea striker should ‘stop f***ing around on Twitter and concentrate on football”

The Belgian’s response was filled with sarcasm.

Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku’s fine form at Inter Milan stunned many Manchester United fans and when one asked why he “couldn’t even control the ball at United but turned up at Inter,” he didn’t hold back.

Jamie Vardy

The Leicester City forward didn’t even need to write any words when he mocked a fan called Jack who posted perhaps the worst football-related tweet of all time.

John Terry

Chelsea legend Terry genuinely has no chill.

His response to a fan who welcomed him to Twitter was simply brutal.

Wissam Ben Yedder

In 2017, Arsenal won the big one… the Emirates Cup.

The Gunners were awarded the trophy despite losing 2-1 to Sevilla. In the pre-season tournament, teams were awarded a point for every goal they scored, and Arsenal’s tally was boosted by a 5-2 win over Benfica.

Many were confused and Sevilla’s Ben Yedder took to Twitter to question the decision, writing: “We won 2/2 but we are not the first… Give us back the cup @Arsenal Ahaha.”

One Arsenal fan went too far in his reply to Ben Yedder, but the Frenchman had the last laugh by issuing a beauty of a response.

Yes, the Newcastle ace has previous.

Here he is destroying a poor, poor Sunderland fan who criticised his goals record. More than 150,000 ‘likes’ later and it’s clear to see the winner of this one.
