It was a mixed weekend for Barcelona veteran Dani Alves.

A central figure in La Blaugrana's 4-2 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou on Sunday, the Brazilian right-back provided an assist for Jordi Alba to score Barcelona's first goal of the afternoon, before finding the net himself four minutes into the second-half.

However, the 39-year-old didn't see out the win alongside his teammates as he was given his marching orders 20 minutes from time following a poor challenge on Yannick Carrasco.

Needlessly scraping his studs down the back of his opponent's calf, Alves now faces a two-match ban for his actions.

Crucially for his club, however, Barcelona held on in his absence to claim three vital La Liga points.

Leaving the stadium after the match, Alves was captured by cameras in a social mood alongside his supermodel wife Joana Sanz as supporters crowded around their car.

Alves even took it in good humour when one supporter complimented his wife in front of him.

"You are very good, but your girlfriend is very pretty," bellowed the fan, per the Daily Mail.

Looking directly at the individual concerned, Alves pointed to his eyes and then back at the supporter, jokingly suggesting that he would be keeping tabs on the fan.

Alves' 28-year-old wife, who models for the likes of Jimmy Choo and Gucci, certainly made her now-husband work for her hand in marriage. According to The Sun, Joana rejected two separate proposals from the defender before saying "I do" at a secret ceremony in Ibiza in 2017.

"Do not covet your neighbour's wife," wrote Alves, reacting to the footage of the encounter - which has now gone viral on social media.

We wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of the Barcelona icon at any time, whether in jest or not.
