Pedro Neto's return to action will come as an 'absolutely brilliant' boost to Wolverhampton Wanderers as they aim to ramp up their bid for European qualification, according to Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse.

Bruno Lage took charge of Wolves last summer, replacing the departed Nuno Espirito Santo, and a late push for a place in the top six is not out of the question.

What's the latest news involving Neto?

Lage has revealed that Neto is in line to make his long-awaited return to action next month, putting a difficult year behind him.

Neto was initially ruled out for six months after suffering a fractured kneecap in Wolves' 1-0 win over Fulham last April.

However, the £31.5million-rated star's expected return date was pushed back after suffering a major setback in August.

Following a prolonged recovery period, Wolves enjoyed a boost when Neto was pictured beginning his individual rehabilitation at Compton Park last month.

As a result, the 21-year-old winger is edging towards his first appearance since Lage moved into the Molineux dugout.

What has Tom Collomosse said about Neto?

Collomosse feels Neto will be 'like a new signing' when he retakes to the Molineux pitch after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, the journalist has urged Wolves to be cautious and not risk another lay-off by overusing Neto upon his return.

Collomosse told GIVEMESPORT: "I think you've always got to wonder whether he's healthy when someone has been out for a long time, especially an attacking player because of the kind of movements they make.

"Neto is such an explosive accelerator and he twists and turns with the ball so if he's all good to go, that's absolutely brilliant.

"It's the great cliche of somebody being like a new signing."

Have Wolves missed Neto's influence?

Although Wolves are still in contention for a European spot, they went into tonight's clash with Arsenal having scored just 19 goals in 21 Premier League outings.

Only Norwich City and Burnley, who find themselves in the relegation zone, have scored less than Lage's outfit since the campaign got underway.

As a result, it is clear that Wolves would have benefitted from Neto's clinical edge in the final third of the pitch, having found the back of the net 10 times and recorded a further 11 assists in 79 appearances for the club.

Adama Traore's January departure for Barcelona would also make the three-cap Portugal international's return timely.
