Justin Bieber was in talks to headline SummerSlam 2014 alongside several top WWE Superstars including John Cena.

WWE is always looking for mainstream stars to come into the promotion for guest spots, as we saw at the Royal Rumble last month with Jackass' Johnny Knoxville.

The likes of Ronda Rousey, Logan Paul and Bad Bunny have come into WWE in recent years, but WWE nearly brought in one of the most famous people on the planet.

One of wrestling's stranger stories came to light again last year, with it emerging that WWE was in talks with Justin Bieber to have a match at SummerSlam 2014.

Speaking on Talk is Jericho last year, Paul Wight (formerly Big Show) explained that he was going to team with Bieber at SummerSlam eight years ago.

The former WWE Champion said that the plan for was him to team with Justin Bieber and John Cena to take on The Wyatt Family in a big celebrity match on the show:

"Years ago, for one of the SummerSlams in LA, I had worked out with a very good friend who was working with Scooter Braun and Justin Bieber. It was going to be John Cena, The Big Show and Justin Bieber vs The Wyatts at SummerSlam.

Paul Wight spoke about just how big the deal was, noting that Bieber "was excited and wanted to work" with WWE:

"Bieber was on board. He was excited and wanted to work out with John and I. This was a really, really big deal.”

The match didn't end up happening, with Wight explaining that despite being one of the most recognisable faces on the planet, someone in WWE didn't think Bieber would relate to the audience:

“One of the people that were making decisions said, ‘I just don’t see how Justin Bieber is going to relate to our audience.’ It’s like, does anyone not see the amount of eyes that Justin Bieber would bring to that match? I think WWE offered to help promote his album or something.

Recent reports have stated that WWE is looking to bring in another mainstream celebrity for Wrestlemania 38 this year, and who knows, that could end up being Justin Bieber?
