Kurt Zouma may be earning more than £125,000-a-week at West Ham, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The defender was fined a hefty sum of money by the Premier League club this week after he was filmed kicking his cat around his house, and this has brought his wage packet into the spotlight.

What's the latest news involving Zouma?

Despite the shocking incident appearing on social media on Monday night, Zouma was still picked to start West Ham's clash with Watford the following day.

However, on Wednesday, he had his cats taken away from him by the RSPCA, and he was reportedly fined two weeks' wages, amounting to £250,000.

It has since been claimed that some of West Ham's stars are not happy after hearing about Zouma's salary as this makes him the highest-paid player in the squad, and they could now look to demand more money from the club moving forward.

What has Jones said about Zouma's wages?

Having joined West Ham from Chelsea last summer, it could be argued that it is not a major surprise that the east London club are paying Zouma such an eye-catching sum of money every week.

Jones has now delivered a fresh update on the situation, declaring that the 27-year-old may actually be earning an even higher figure than first reported.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Zouma is on big money and, actually, I’ve heard it’s more than the £125,000-a-week once you build in add-ons beyond that base wage."

Could Zouma's wage packet derail West Ham's push for a top four finish?

West Ham have had a strong season to date, and are in the hunt for Champions League football, along with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham.

They have been able to compete with these sides largely due to the togetherness within the squad that David Moyes has created.

Therefore, reports that there is discontent among the players about Zouma's wages is far from ideal at such a crucial point in the season.

If they are not all on the same page, this could severely hinder their performances, and could see the side fall away in the final months of the campaign.

With this in mind, Moyes will want to make sure that his team continue to pull in the same direction, to give West Ham the best possible chance of finishing inside the top four.
