Several of Manchester United's stars are reportedly unhappy with new manager Ralf Rangnick's training methods.

Despite a generally positive start to life in Manchester, a small number of disappointing results have overshadowed some of the beneficial work Rangnick and his team have implemented.

The Red Devils have conceded just nine goals in their last 12 matches under the German, a stark contrast to the last 12 games under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, in which the team conceded 24 times.

But poor results against Newcastle, Middlesbrough and most recently Burnley, have seen fans questioning the manager's tactics. There have also been plenty of stories leaking out of discontent in the dressing room.

Cristiano Ronaldo has supposedly been unhappy with Rangnick on multiple occasions, regarding his position and substitutions. The forward has even been caught on camera stropping at the manager's decisions, with many outlets reporting his future at the club could be in doubt.

But according to a recent report from ESPN, the 37-year-old is far from the only unhappy player in the United camp.

United's stars are reportedly unhappy with Rangnick's 'old-fashioned' training methods and have also been surprised at the extent of training that has been allocated to Rangnick's assistant, Chris Armas.

Players have complained that Rangnick's sessions focus too heavily on 11v11 work, designed to improve shape and organisation, over more vigorous drills designed to help players stay sharp between matches.

Assistant coach Armas has reportedly been left to organise the bulk of United's training sessions, despite the former United States international having never coached outside North America before joining United.

The 49-year-old American was dismissed from his previous coaching role at Toronto FC after winning just two of his 15 games in charge.

ESPN claim that the situation around training has led to some United stars mocking the American, comparing him to fictional football manager Ted Lasso.

In the Apple+ comedy show, Jason Sudeikis stars as a hapless American college football coach, who is then hired by fictional Premier League club, AFC Richmond, despite having zero knowledge of the sport.

A harsh comparison, to say the least.

But with United now sitting sixth in the Premier League table, and recently dumped out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough, it's understandable that some players are feeling frustrated.

Luckily for the upset fans and players, Rangnick is only contracted until the end of the season, at which point the German will move upstairs into a consultancy role.
