Newcastle United transfer target Moses Simon has undergone a 'stunning transformation' and become one of Ligue 1's most impressive wingers, according to Get French Football News' chief features writer Adam White.

The transfer window may have only closed at the end of last month, with the Magpies being Europe's biggest spenders, but head coach Eddie Howe is already mulling over who to move for in the summer.

What's the latest news involving Simon?

According to Own Goal Nigeria, Newcastle have made Nantes wide-man Simon their prime target ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report suggests the 26-year-old boasts a £20million price tag and has also grabbed the attention of Leeds United, who saw a January move blocked by his current employers.

Newcastle became the richest club in world football when the Saudi Arabia-based Public Investment Fund led a £305million takeover last October.

That means the Magpies are able to splash the cash and they have reportedly already offered Nigeria international Simon a contract worth £100,000-per-week in a bid to tempt him to St James' Park.

What has Adam White said about Simon?

White, who has watched Simon closely, is not surprised that Newcastle are keen on welcoming the winger to Tyneside ahead of next season.

The French football expert believes Simon is similar to Rennes and Belgium international ace Jeremy Doku.

When asked whether he could understand Premier League clubs potentially eyeing a summer move for Simon, White told GIVEMESPORT: "Definitely, I would. It's a stunning transformation because he was very inconsistent and very frustrating to watch 18 months ago.

"He was in and out to some extent but this season he has been one of the best wide players in the league - it's quite amazing.

"He does that thing that Jeremy Doku, who I think is a relatively good comparison, does where he shows a defender the ball and says 'go on then'. He then steals it away and he has been really key to Nantes."

Why is Simon of interest to Newcastle?

Simon has been a constant threat in the final third of the pitch this season, racking up eight goal involvements in 19 Ligue 1 outings.

He has found the back of the net 56 times over the course of his club career, emphasising that he would add another attacking dimension to Newcastle's play.

Simon has also shone on the international stage, scoring six goals and providing as many assists in 46 Nigeria appearances.

Newcastle's big-money backers will clearly have their eye on silverware and that is something Simon has won plenty of, including the titles in Belgium and Slovakia.
