Conor McGregor is one of the biggest names in the UFC and an interview has emerged from the time he was a featherweight, which shows the incredible transformation the Irishman has gone through.

McGregor can often be seen posting his impressive physique on Instagram, but it hasn't always been that easy for the former UFC champion.

Some say that McGregor was at his best during his time in the featherweight division, but just making the weight seemed to be a challenge for the 33-year-old.

Making weight is one of the hardest aspects in combat sports because not going about it in the right way can lead to a fighter having less stamina and possibly not being at 100%.

In the video, the Dubliner says: "I lose my f****** mind up there on that stage. I threw my shorts, I threw my top, I threw my hat.

"One more throw and it was my jocks coming off, you know what I mean?

"I cut the weight. Now I bring it down. Now I let it go cold. I wanted to make that championship weight to let people know that they are looking at the new champion."

After his win at UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone, the Irish star explained how difficult it is to grind his body down to the correct weight.

He said: "I've experienced it all. I've experienced near blackouts. For the Mendes weight cut, I had no nutritionist.

"I did it all myself, and it was a heavy wet cut. For the Aldo one, I did it correctly, and I felt ok. I had amazing success down there."

McGregor's finest moment inside the Octagon was when it took him only 13 seconds to knock out Jose Aldo, who was the longest-reigning featherweight champion in UFC.

He was the biggest star in the sport due to his charismatic personality, but his career has not progressed the way that he would have liked in recent times.

And now he finds himself at a bit of a catch-22 situation as he's possibly too small to compete with the best in the world at welterweight, but cutting back down to featherweight may also be a bridge too far as he's not getting any younger.
