N’Golo Kante made football history in Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup final win against Palmeiras on Saturday night. The Chelsea midfielder added yet another winner’s medal to his extensive haul of honours and in doing so, he became just the fourth player to have won the Premier League, Champions League, World Cup and Club World Cup in their careers.Per Squawka, Gerard Pique, Pedro and Thierry Henry are the other three.Kante is by all accounts one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and he’ll retire with one of the most enviable trophy collections in existence. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Whatever your opinion on Chelsea, you simply can’t hate Kante. He’s too pure, too sweet, too humble.

At a time when professional footballers are increasingly in the news for the wrong reasons, Kante is a breath of fresh air. Whether it’s consoling an Arsenal supporter after beating the Gunners or watching Match of the Day with fans, he’s a class act.

Kante's interview after Club World Cup final

The former Leicester City man showcased his humble side in his post-match interview after Chelsea’s win over Palmeiras.

Kante was joined by Callum Hudson-Odoi and the midfielder simply refused to accept praise from his teammate.

Kante was keen to interject as Hudson-Odoi waxed lyrical about him, saying: “Thanks to you, thanks to you.”

Hudson-Odoi tried to fight back, saying “No! It’s not me, it’s you man!”

But he just couldn’t stop the France international from getting his word in.

“Great assist, great assist. You gave us a lift,” Kante said.

“It’s a nice feeling, it’s the first time for everyone to play in this competition, it’s the first time for the club to win it,” Kante added.

What a man.

The clip, also posted by Chelsea's official account, sparked a lot of reaction.

Chelsea add Club World Cup

The biggest absence from Kante’s career is the League Cup, which he can win when Chelsea take on Liverpool at the end of February.

They lifted the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi after Kai Havertz’s winning penalty in extra-time helped them to a 2-1 win against Palmeiras.

Romelu Lukaku have the Blues the lead in the 54th minute but Raphael Veiga equalised for the Brazilian side shortly afterwards.

The game looked destined for penalties until Havertz showed he has ice in his veins to convert from the spot late on.
