The NFL’s Super Bowl might actually be more popular because of the halftime show rather than for the sport that is played on the gridiron.Of course, Super Bowl LVI will take place on Sunday as the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams go up against each other for the Vince Lombardi trophy at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. However, for many, the Super Bowl Halftime show will be why a lot of them will be looking to tune in, as they will be able to get to see some musical royalty perform on stage.Indeed, this year’s edition of the event will see Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar all perform together in a show that will likely be remembered for years to come! But, with this in mind, what are some of the most iconic and best Super Bowl Halftime shows to have ever been witnessed? Let’s take a look at a few of them below:Prince (2007)Many will argue that there is no better Super Bowl Halftime show than the one that Prince put on in 2007 during Super Bowl XLI.Whilst the game featured the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears where Devin Hester managed to score a 92-yard return touchdown with the first play of the game, many will remember what “The Artist Formerly Known As Prince” had managed to provide in regard to entertainment.

He performed a number of his greatest hits, whilst also providing a number of iconic remixes of tracks like Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower", Queen's "We Will Rock You", and Foo Fighters' "Best of You".

Let’s not forget, he also provided a perfect rendition of his hit ‘Purple Rain’ that was accompanied by a marching band to close out the show! Legendary!

Beyoncé (2013)

2013’s Super Bowl 50 Halftime showtime saw Beyoncé steal the night, along with her former Destiny Child bandmates that nobody had been expecting.

Indeed, whilst Michelle Williams might have been unmasked recently on the Masked Singer as Rockhopper, she, Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé stole Super Bowl 50 from the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos with their performances.

Hits such as "Single Ladies", "Halo", "Crazy in Love", "Bootylicious" and "Independent Women Part I" were all sung, whilst it was watched by 104 million people and became the most-tweeted-about moment in Twitter history with 268,000 tweets per minute.

Michael Jackson (1993)

If it were not for Michael Jackson’s efforts in 1993, the Super Bowl Halftime show might not actually be what it is today. He was one of the very first to perform at the iconic event instead of a traditional marching band and 90 million viewers managed to witness history taking place.

He had performed a number of hits including 'Billie Jean', 'Black or White' and 'We Are The World' during the show, and is one of the most-watched halftime shows ever!

Jennifer Lopez & Shakira (2020)

When you get J-Lo and Shakira teaming up, you know the Super Bowl Halftime show was always going to provide some rather Latino heat and, wow, did it!

The performance by these two iconic singers was produced by Jay-Z when they performed at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, for Super Bowl LIV between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers and they tore the house down as 103 million people saw the pair perform covered in 200,000 Swarovski crystals.

They sang a number of their tracks, whilst guests included Bad Bunny, J Balvin and Jennifer's daughter Emme Muñiz.
