Johnny Knoxville could be set to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE WrestleMania 38, if rumours are to be believed.

The star of Jackass Forever was brought into WWE at the beginning of the year, entering the men's Royal Rumble match last month as one of the match's surprise entrants.

During his time with WWE, Knoxville was involved with Sami Zayn, with the pair feuding on Friday Night SmackDown for the majority of January.

In the Royal Rumble match, it was actually Sami Zayn who eliminated Knoxville, and while many thought that the feud would have ended there, that hasn't happened.

WWE has still been airing vignettes to extend the feud between Knoxville and Zayn, and many have speculated this is going to lead to a WrestleMania match between the two.

Sami Zayn is set to challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown next week, in a match many people are expecting him to win.

The going theory circulating online right now is that Zayn is going to win the title, and then go on to defend it in a showcase celebrity match against Knoxville at restleMania in April.

To add some validity to the theory, Dave Meltzer suggested that this could be in the works on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, as noted by Sportster.

Of course, there are still six weeks from now until WrestleMania, so the plans that WWE has for the huge show could very much change over the next few weeks.

Johnny Knoxville's Jackass Forever is now in cinemas, so it's not too surprising to see that WWE is looking to bring the film's franchise star in for the biggest show of the year.

You can watch WrestleMania 38 live on April 2 & 3 over in the UK on Peacock, and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
