The only way Leicester City can afford to sign Club Brugge attacker Charles De Ketelaere is if ‘people go out first’, according to journalist Tom Collomosse.

Leicester have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old in recent months as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his faltering forward line.

What is the latest news involving De Ketelaere?

De Ketelaere has risen to prominence over the last 18 months, establishing himself as a key player at the Jan Breydel Stadium after rising through the ranks at his boyhood club.

Last season, the versatile youngster racked up a respectable 13 goal contributions in 46 appearances for Brugge, playing a key role in their league title success.

But De Ketelaere has elevated his game to new heights in the current campaign, bagging a whopping 16 goals and providing nine assists to his grateful teammates.

The 6 foot 3 ace’s impressive displays have already earned him four caps in the Belgium senior setup and have reportedly caught the eye of some of Europe’s top teams.

According to RTL reporter Alexandre Braeckman (as relayed by LeicestershireLive), Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also interested in snapping up De Ketelaere alongside Leicester.

Braeckman claims that the player is an ‘advanced target’ for the Foxes, who have a ‘plan’ to beat off the competition from two of European football’s biggest sides.

What has Collomosse said about Leicester?

The Belgium journalist also states that Brugge will be looking to receive between €35 million (£29.3m) and €45m (£37.6m) for their prized asset and has described it as the ‘biggest transfer coming out of the history of the Belgian championship’.

However, Collomosse believes Leicester will have to sell some first-team players before they can afford De Ketelaere’s price tag.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think the only way that they spend something like £30 odd million on De Ketelaere is if people go out first.”

Could Leicester afford De Ketelaere?

In recent years, Leicester have spent sizeable sums to bring the likes of Youri Tielemans, Wesley Fofana and James Maddison to the King Power Stadium.

But their acquisitions have often been offset by major departures, with Harry Maguire, Riyad Mahrez and Ben Chilwell amongst the big-name stars to move on for astronomical fees.

Rodgers may be forced to apply the same tactic to secure the services of De Ketelaere, and with Tielemans’ edging towards the exit door, he could be the one to make way.
