Ryan Garcia has explained why he has parted ways with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and coach Eddy Reynoso - hinting the latter's 'very busy' schedule left him no choice but to leave the gym.

Garcia, 23, was trained by his father Henry at first before moving to Reynoso's House of Boxing gym in San Diego in 2018.

After a few years, however, he left Canelo Alvarez's adopted US training base to join forces with veteran cornerman and pundit Joe Goosen in a surprise move earlier this week.

However, Garcia claims that there was nothing more to it, as he insists there are no 'hard feelings'.

Garcia is currently gearing up to face Emmanuel Tagoe in his comeback fight after a lengthy period of inactivity.

The former WBC interim lightweight champion will make his long-awaited return to the ring against the ex-IBO 135lbs titleholder in San Antonio on April 9.

Garcia went live on Instagram to promote the fight to his 8.7million followers.

As he read the comments from the stream, Garcia said: "You know guys in regards to switching trainers it had nothing to do with bad blood or ego or any hard feelings.

"It's just - I would say - time, that's basically it.

"Just knowing that you've got to get to work and, you know, Eddy is very busy, I respect it, he has to do what he has to do.

"So, you know, we'll just move forward and keep grinding and we're going to continue on to the path that we're at.

"I'm going to go forward, win world titles, win all the belts one day, and move up.

"That's it, that's all we can do. Keep inspiring people, and I'm going to do my best, I'm definitely going to do my best."

Garcia's dad Henry also revealed he took inspiration from Floyd Mayweather before planning his next move.

He told BoxingScene.com: “Ryan decided that it was time for him to have his own gym, where he’s not confined to a certain schedule and a certain day.

"It’s like, ‘Hey, we have a fight coming up’ you know. He wanted to build his own brand and make it bigger.

“I think it’s time. It’s like when you have an apartment – you get tired of renting and you want your own place. It’s almost like that.

"The main thing is that Ryan did not want to feel that he was, you know, in somebody else’s, you know, he felt that his brand can hold up, just like Floyd Mayweather Jr when Mayweather decided to move away from Top Rank and start his own thing.

"It’s almost the same thing. He just didn’t want to feel confined to one area where you have to wait until they decide to work out and this and that.

"We don’t want that. We want to have our own place, and what’s wrong with that?"
