Lionel Messi's time at Ligue 1 giants PSG hasn't exactly set the world alight.

When the Barcelona legend was forced to swap Catalonia for Paris, amid a cacophony of fan-fair, everyone just assumed he would hit the ground running.

However, it just hasn't been that easy for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner who has struggled to translate his mesmeric Spanish touch to French climes.

In truth, you can't help but feel that Messi never wanted to be in Paris in the first place. His Barcelona departure was incredibly unexpected and the tears he shed when saying good-bye suggested he just wasn't ready to go.

Sadly, there was nothing for it, and Messi was welcomed with opened arms into Paris.

The prospect of Messi linking up with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe was enough to get the pulse of any football fan pumping.

On paper, The PSG squad looked like a content-conquering behemoth but, as we all know, football games aren't won on paper.

Many have laid the blame for that underwhelming return at the feet of Messi but a recent video that has emerged online suggests that fault simply cannot lie with the Argentinean superstar.

The footage, that runs on the premise that Messi has been 'underrated' thus far in France, offers an opening alternative to the general narrative that has engulfed Messi Parisian adventure so far.

Now, it isn't vintage Messi, but it's far from the hollow shell of a player we've been lead to believe he has become. In fact, if this were a compilation of any other player, it would be simply electrifying.

The touch is there, the vision is still sharp and the desire is on show for everyone to see, it just hasn't quite clicked yet.

However, we'll let you make up you own mind by checking out the footage below:

As you can see, it might not be Messi-mania, but the warning signs are certainly there for all to see.

With a massive Champions league clash looming against Real Madrid, Messi will be desperate to find his range and do it fast.

You can imagine that nothing will give him more satisfaction than being able to dump the old enemy out of Europe's premier competition.
